When our son was diagnosed with autism in the summer of
1993, we were devastated. Only months before we had
a beautiful, perfect 15 month old boy. He was happy,
healthy, and growing normally.
Suddenly,
over a period of about eight weeks, everything changed.
Max started to rapidly develop what we now know to be the
classic symptoms of autism. We were confused and frightened.
We ran from one doctor to another, and went through every
test, evaluation,
consultation, and observation we could find. We frantically
searched for information. We found little.
For the next two years, we spent
a small fortune, in a hit or miss process, ordering books
from publishers and obscure, far-away book stores.

The John Maxwell Biasco Foundation
For Children with Autism
Improving the lives of individuals with Autism
and
related developmental disabilities, by educating and supporting the
parents and professionals who care for them. |
We are sincerely thankful to so many people for all the
support during the establishment of our foundation and the opening of our resource
center. We especially thank these groups, who have consistently gone above and
beyond when we've asked for help:
Naples Community Healthcare/Briggs Resource Center is housing
and staffing our Center. We are paying no overhead, which allows our funds to be
spent entirely on books, education and autism awareness, as they should be!
The Membership of The Moorings Presbyterian Church of Naples
has provided endless labor, funding and emotional support. The church
has sponsored many major fundraisers and continues to be instrumental
in the planning and implementation of this project.
